Let’s talk marriage

Bukky and Maxwell Oseh are a couple who are intentional about investing in their marriage, and they love sharing what they have learned with other couples. They run an annual marriage retreat, and Maxwell has posted on the value to his marriage of retreating together.

Let’s Talk Marriage (LTM) couples’ retreat, held last year at Wyboston Lakes resort, was a transformative experience that breathed new life into my relationship with Bukky and represents a landmark on our journey together.

One of the most profound benefits of the retreat was the opportunity it provided for deep, uninterrupted connection. In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it is easy for couples to become entangled in responsibilities and distractions, leaving little room for authentic communication and bonding. The retreat offered us a sacred space to rekindle spiritual and emotional intimacy, free from the day-to-day pressures of life, and also provided an opportunity to relax in the lovely surroundings and make use of the spa facilities available.

The retreat equipped us with invaluable tools and strategies for navigating challenges and strengthening our partnership together. From communication techniques to conflict resolution skills, we learned practical ways to foster understanding, empathy, and mutual respect. Witnessing the transformations of other couples on the retreat was equally inspiring. For some, it provided a much-needed opportunity to pause, reflect, and find each other again. Through group discussions, heartfelt conversations, shared activities and experiences, each of us discovered new ways to express our needs, fears, and desires with honesty, as we laid bare our hearts before God and our spouses. As one couple’s feedback put it, it was an ‘insightful and inspiring weekend’. A by-product of the weekend is that couples in church are developing support networks and encouraging one another through their testimonies of breakthrough.

LTM retreat has been a powerful reminder of the importance of investing in and prioritising our marriage relationships. It also served as a catalyst for deeper intimacy, stronger unity, and developing faith in our marriages. We are running the retreat again this year on 22nd–24th November, and would love to invite couples to join us. It is a great way to invest in your marriage.
