Out of the mouth of babes
God does not supply his people with spiritual gifts according to maturity and experience. Every believer is encouraged to ‘eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy’ (1 Corinthians 14:1).
These days at New Life we are finding that our children and young people are blazing a trail in their public commitment to God and their exercise of spiritual gifts, which stand as an example to Christians of all ages. At our last Worship and Encounter Evening, when the host asked, ‘Does anyone have a word of knowledge?’, the seven-year-old daughter of one of the worship team told her dad that she’d had over 40 ideas from God that she’d written down during the worship!
We reproduce those ideas now, and encourage you to use them to declare afresh your identity as a child of our all-powerful and all-loving Heavenly Father. All of them are encouraging, some are challenging. As you read them through, why not think carefully about each statement, asking God to speak to you through them, and pausing and praying whenever a truth brings something up for you that you need to address with God.
We should be aware of what God tells us.
We should only want God.
We should ask God to fill us with his Spirit.
God loves us no matter what we do.
We want God to change us in the way that we believe in him, so we are wholehearted.
We should come back to Jesus.
We have to have joy not only in the world but in our hearts.
No matter what, always try to be in a happy mood.
We should never stop praising the Lord.
Thank Jesus for everything.
You are stuck in a cage of sin, and God has just told you how to get out. It’s YOUR choice to get out or go deeper into the cage.
Jesus is the Light of the world.
God is forever holy.
God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father is the father to Jesus and Jesus is the Son to the Father, and the Holy Spirit helps us get closer to the Father.
We want to be holy like Jesus.
When just one sinner returns to God, there is a party in heaven.
It doesn’t matter what everyone else thinks about you because God loves you anyway.
God watches over you.
God is your BFF (best friend forever).
You can feel the love of God no matter where you are, even in Antarctica!
God never breaks his promises.
God will bless you if you do the right thing.
If you die after living a life like Jesus you will have an eternity in heaven.
Spread the word about Jesus.
Trust in the Lord your God.
Make some noise for the Lord because he is coming back for you.
What is the problem with listening to someone who loves you?
When you turn to God don’t expect him to say, ‘Come in, come in!’, and then to reject you. When you come back to him he wants you to stay forever.
Ask God to help us know that he is here.
Ask God to help you have faith.
Life is not about us, it’s about God.
God is worthy of our praise.
God has blessed us.
Never stop praying.
People see God in different ways.
No one is perfect.
God never ends.
When you are with God there is no such thing as the end of life.
Everyone is loved by Jesus.
Everyone can enter heaven.
When Jesus died on the cross he thought of you.
Easter isn’t about chocolate and bunnies, it’s about Jesus being risen from the dead.
Every single person has a different gift and they can choose what to do with their gift.
You don’t need to do anything crazy to pray to God, just talk to him like you talk to your friend, because God is your friend.
45. God made you in his own image.
