In partnership with the Intentional Discipleship (ID) training course, New Life Church Milton Keynes invites you to join our intern programme.

The programme is designed to deepen your relationship with Jesus and to discover your skills and spiritual gifts as you serve others. You will also grow in ways you never imagined. It is open to anyone aged 18 and above, and runs from September to July each year.

In addition to the International Discipleship training programme we will invite you to be a student on our School of Missional Life. There may also be opportunities to study on the Catalyst Leadership Training programme.

  • Anyone aged 18 and above who wants to grow in their faith, serve others, and experience hands-on ministry can apply for the internship program at New Life Church Milton Keynes.

  • Yes, we accept international candidates to participate. This is dependent on visa rules and requirements.

  • Interns will have the opportunity to serve in various ministry roles including working with children, youth, community projects, evangelism, Bible teaching, production, and worship. The programme is designed to match your passions and skills with ministry needs.

  • Interns will be discipled by seasoned leaders and mature believers. This includes one-on-one guidance, group discipleship sessions, and personal development plans aimed at deepening your relationship with Jesus and honing your spiritual gifts.

  • You will live with a host family during the internship. Interns are responsible for their groceries, and personal necessities.

  • Yes, part of the internship includes experiencing the vibrancy of church life and visiting a pioneering church plant overseas. This will give you a chance to see the world, broaden your horizons, and connect with a global family of churches.

  • Interns are allowed a certain amount of time off. If an intern needs to take time off, he/she will need to request time off in advance for approval.

  • The internship is designed to transform your faith through discipleship, practical ministry experience, and academic study. You will grow spiritually, develop lifelong friendships, and gain practical skills that will help you make a real difference in the lives of others.

  • Interns will benefit from quality teaching during four week-long residentials and weekly online sessions as part of the Intentional Discipleship (ID) training course. This includes intensive Bible study, tackling big questions of faith, and strengthening your theological foundation.

  • The total cost of the Intentional Discipleship (ID) training course, is £2000. This fee covers meals during residentials, travel for mission trips, training materials, and various programme activities. You will also need to be able to cover your other living expenses throughout the year (see Should I raise money?). Detailed cost breakdowns can be provided upon request.

  • There are several ways to raise funds for the internship programme:

    1. Fundraising: Engage in personal fundraising efforts such as hosting events, selling handmade goods, or creating online crowdfunding campaigns.

    2. Sponsorship: Seek sponsorship from friends, family, or members of your church community who may be willing to support your journey.

    3. Church Support: Your home church might be able to support you in mission and ministry training. Speak with your church leaders about potential financial assistance.

    4. Grants and Scholarships: Look into grants and scholarships that may be available for ministry training or mission work.

  • We encourage you to fundraise, raise support, and save money to help you be prepared to cover any expenses you may incur while participating in the internship. Consider your bills and include food and utilities and any other personal expenses you might have.

  • No, this internship programme is currently unpaid and voluntary. Interns are not employees or independent contractors. No wages, insurance, or other compensatory benefits will be provided.

  • Due to the intensive nature of the internship programme, it is impractical for interns to take up a part-time job. The programme is designed to be a full-time commitment, encompassing training sessions, ministry roles, mission trips, and personal development activities. Fully dedicating your time and energy to the internship will ensure you get the most out of this transformative experience.
